At the end of 2025, St Paul’s Collegiate School travelled to Bangkok and Tokyo to connect with current families, Collegians, and those considering a St Paul’s education, strengthening the relationships that underpin our international community.
Headmaster Ben Skeen and Director of International Helen Richardson (Staff 2011–2025) led the visits. For Helen, who concluded her 14-year tenure, the trips were a meaningful celebration of long-standing relationships and the global community she helped build, spanning 17 ethnicities on campus. Mrs Jo Harmon now steps into the role of Director of International.
In Bangkok, current St Paul’s families gathered with Collegians Scott Clotworthy (Hall 1989–1993), Stuart Collecutt (Hamilton 1979–1983), and Todd Cooper (Sargood 1980–1982). While in Tokyo, Richard Bracefield (Sargood 2002–2005) and Stuart Yokozeki (Hall 1977–1979) connected with staff to hear St Paul’s updates.
Tokyo also saw the vital contribution of current international student Riku Sato. He helped coordinate families and venues and spoke at an International Independent School Conference, sharing his journey at St Paul’s. Riku chose St Paul’s at 13 for its Tihoi programme, navigating the challenges of a new language, routines, and boarding life. Over four years, he has embraced extracurricular opportunities, developed academically and in leadership, strengthened his bilingual skills, and built lasting friendships.
Reflecting on his experience, Riku says, “Enrolling at St Paul’s was the best decision of my life. Trust the school, give it time, and it will get better. It may be challenging at first, but it is worth it.”
The connection continues in 2026, with the St Paul’s First XV touring Japan, where Riku looks forward to showing his teammates the culture and highlights of his hometown, a reminder that the St Paul’s story extends far beyond the school gates, carried by students, staff, and Collegians worldwide.
