The St Paul’s community is saddened to hear of the passing of Spencer John Hamilton Pullon on 4 August 2025 in Christchurch, aged 62.
Spencer was a talented sportsman, representing the school in the Boys' First XI hockey team for three years (1978–1980). Equally, his artistic talent shone through during his school years, leading him to pursue further study in the arts.
In 1990, Spencer graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Canterbury University. He went on to build a diverse and creative career, first as Exhibitions Officer at the MacDougall Art Gallery in Christchurch, before moving to Auckland, where he worked in advertising, design, and film set work both in New Zealand and overseas.
Returning to Christchurch in 2012, Spencer continued to work as a freelance painter and film set finisher. He will be remembered as a trusted, loyal, and extraordinary brother, uncle, friend, and colleague, admired for his creativity, humour, and generosity.
