Graham Lindsay

Graham Leonard Lindsay (Sargood 1972-1976) lived an adventurous and accomplished life, with a lifelong passion for aviation, a strong sense of determination and, above all, a deep love for his family.

Graham built a distinguished career in aviation, serving in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, Air New Zealand and then joining Cathay Pacific, where he became a Boeing 747 captain and Check and Training Captain. Graham spent more than three decades with the airline and he accumulated 25,000 flying hours. Flying was a defining part of Graham’s life and a passion he carried throughout his career.

Graham was the dearly loved father of Jessica, Cameron and Briar, partner of Chrissy, and a much-loved grandfather to Kara and Izzy. His family meant the world to him, and he took great pride in his children and the joy his granddaughters brought into his life.

Graham is remembered with love by his family and friends for a life marked by adventure, achievement, resilience, and an enduring passion for flying. He passed away peacefully on 18 March 2026.

Judy Clarke

Former St Paul's librarian Judy Clarke (Staff 2012–2023) is remembered for her hearty laugh, warmth and genuine care for students.

During her 11 years at the School, Judy became a familiar and much-loved presence in the library, where she managed the extensive book collection and developed a special rapport with students. She took a keen interest in their lives and enjoyed watching them grow in confidence and maturity throughout their school years.

Judy also managed the School's Tuck Shop, where her famous thick shakes were a favourite among students.

Remembered as passionate about books and compassionate towards young people, Judy made a lasting impression on the School community.

Judy passed away on 6 October 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Colin 'Col' Heath

Col Heath (School 1989-1993) is remembered by friends for their compassion, curiosity and strong sense of social responsibility. With a deep commitment to fairness and community, Col cared about making a positive difference in the lives of others.

A lover of animals and the outdoors, Col volunteered on pest eradication projects and found peace in nature. Friends recall a thoughtful and philosophical person who valued quiet reflection, meaningful connections and standing up for what they believed was right.

Patrick Smales

Patrick Smales (Williams 1964-1966) passed away in December 2025 in Dargaville, following a short illness. Affectionately known as Patch, he was the dearly loved husband and soulmate of Annie, stepfather to Kim, Mark and Joey, and a much-loved grandfather to Hannah, Matthew, Monty and Yuki.

After completing a bachelor's degree, Nicholas pursued a career in business, becoming the owner of several UPS Stores and establishing an international import business specialising in New Zealand wine and other products. His work reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to connect people and opportunities across countries.
