Jackson Bird is fascinated by science and human anatomy. He developed a distinctive approach to portraiture that combines technical observation with psychological insight.
Jackson became well known within the department for painting portraits of his peers, capturing not only their likenesses but also their characters. This particular work portrays Nikau Vietch (School 2020-2024), the 2024 Te Kaia Prefect.
This work was selected for exhibition in the NZQA Ringa Toi exhibition at Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
Jackson is also a Collegian of St Paul’s Collegiate School (Fitchett 2020-2024).
