Dunedin-based painter Rodney Hamel specialises in landscapes and portraits. He began painting whilst located in the Waikato region; watercolour was his main interest until the 1990s when he began learning to paint with oils. Rodney maintains a passion for art history which influences the way he paints.
Rodney painted a portrait of St Paul's Collegiate School Headmaster, Mr Harry Reginald Hornsby (1963 - 1965).
Rodney was a Teacher of History and Geography at St Paul's Collegiate School 1963 - 2000.
