'St Paul’s Memories
2017
Painting on board
Sam Mathers grew up in Raglan, New Zealand. He has travelled and lived all over the world working as a full-time artist. His works are a visual diary of his travels.
This Kiwiana retro-style painting was commissioned by the 2017 Leavers as a leaving gift to St Paul's Collegiate School. The painting was inspired by Sam's time as a St Paul’s student. Sam’s retro artwork includes many symbolic images that he associates with his time at St Paul’s. These images bring together many aspects of the school’s unique identity: personal growth, focused learning, the Tihoi experience, religious faith, and life in the Waikato.
Sam is a Collegian of St Paul’s Collegiate School (Hall 1998 - 2002).
Location: Management Centre (Hamilton Campus)
