Tapa Cloth - St Andrew's High School

'St Andrew’s High School'

2011

Bark Cloth

In Tonga, tapa cloth is known as ngatu. It is highly valued and used for special occasions such as wedding and funeral ceremonies.

Both St Paul’s and St Andrew’s High School benefitted from the influence and input at a crucial time in their histories from the outstanding leadership of Mr Harry Reginald Hornsby.

The establishment of a brother and sister school relationship with St Andrew’s High School in Nuka’lofa, Tonga was recognised with a visit to St Paul’s and the gifting of this Tapa Cloth by the Headmaster Reverence Sione Uluilakepa.
