The Hive: Bricks tell stories

Two Collegians are 66 years apart, yet their messages reflect the same truth: St Paul’s is, and always has been, about its people.

Two bricks will permanently sit side by side on the new wall of the Hive, visible to all those who attend the walk-through on January 28: one from our first Collegian in 1959, John Nettleton (Sargood | School 1959–1962), and one from a Collegian who left just last year, Trelise Forster (Harington 2022–2024). The Collegians are 66 years apart, yet their messages reflect the same truth: St Paul’s is, and always has been, about its people.

John’s brick reads: “Made many great friends for life.” He still remembers his first day in 1959. “There were more paddocks than buildings,” he laughs, “but no shortage of mates.” He adds, “The stronger St Paul’s becomes, the prouder I am of being the first kid that walked through the school gates.”

Trelise chose: “Do everything in love.” It’s a line from Corinthians that she tries to live by. “Some of my closest friendships started in Harington House,” she says. “This message is a reminder of the way I want to move through the world.”

The Hive has been designed to support the next generation. These bricks aren’t just part of a building; they’re small pieces of the wider story of St Paul’s. As we count down to the opening, there is still time to add your own message to that story. Click here to purchase your brick.
